This time of year can be exhausting, with lists, organizing, shopping, wrapping, cooking, entertaining, and especially the family budget.
Do you find yourself going over your bank account in your sleep, or distracting you throughout the day?
Stress zaps your energy, disrupts your focus, causes anxiety, and ruins your sleep. Lack of sleep and the constant cortisol and adrenaline can also seriously harm your health.
Make Sure You’re Hydrated.
Pass on those sugary, or artificially sweetened and flavored beverages, or even flavored waters. Unless it’s you adding real fruits & superfoods like lemon, mint, cinnamon sticks, cucumber and ginger… skip the artificial, and go for natural.
Our brain, heart, circulation, and all of our tissues and organs need water to function at their best.
You’ll also benefit by sleeping better at night, and water is one of the necessary ingredients for burning body fat.
Get your 6-8 glasses a day, or even better; divide your weight in half, and that number is a pretty optimal amount for your individual requirements. Tip: When you rise first thing, drink a full glass, before coffee or consuming anything else.
Don’t Skimp on Protein.
Have you ever felt jittery, high-strung, and craving something sweet, salty, and crunchy? If this happens to you frequently, please see your doctor to make sure it’s not something more serious.
Often times, it’s our body needing protein, amino acids, vitamins and enzymes that can only be found in certain foods.
As a former vegan, I’ve learned I wasn’t getting my protein from high quality sources, in spite of proper food combining. Organic chicken, wild salmon, eggs, and turkey are again my friends. High Quality, Omega 3 Fats.
Cut out the fake butters, margarine, spreads, vegetable, canola, safflower, corn oils. I won’t go into all of the reasons why, we would be here all day!
Opt for cold-pressed, extra virgin olive oil for salads and anything prepared and served cold. Extra-virgin, unrefined, cold pressed coconut oil for foods that are heated.
Your brain will thank you, you’ll feel more energy, less stress, and your body will thank you too.
MCT, or medium chain triglyceride fats are needed for not only brain function, but energy, sleep, proper cell growth, and you must have them to burn body fat!
Get Omega 3’s from foods like raw nuts and seeds (not roasted and salted!), avocados, and wild salmon, coconut, and avocado oil (cold), to name a few.
Consider a quality, daily Omega 3 supplement. This is the one I use.

Reduce & Improve Carbohydrate Quality.
Cut the simple carbs from sugar, flower, white potatoes, breads, rice, pastas, and artificial sweeteners (I know there’s no carbs in artificial sweeteners, but there are ways it negatively impacts your hormones & metabolism.)
I do eat carbs from vegetable sources, and small amounts of fruit mid-morning, and mid-afternoon.
We need carbs, but not in the amount, for from the sources many people are getting them from. I also try not to eat carbs after 6pm. It not only helps me deal with stress, but I sleep better, and burn body fat efficiently because of it too.
